A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2)

A Million Suns (Across the Universe #2) by Beth Revis

Rating: 2.5~3 stars

I'm really sorry, I totally didn't want to give this book a low rating because I loved the first book Across the Universe, but I was very much disappointed by A Million Suns.

Since I read the first book in the series, I have been looking forward to the second one, and I was so excited when it finally arrived for me at the library. But to my utter disappointment, this book had no real character development, the characters didn't seem real to me. It was more like: "ah, I'm a freak, ta-di-ta-di-da..." from Amy and "Oh no, I said the wrong things...Oh, I need to be a stronger leader... Oh I shouldn't have done that..." from Elder. The characters were flat, they didn't appeal to the reader. There was no real story in this book, to me, it just felt like a pointless wild goose chase. I read on because I kept waiting for it to get better, but even in the end, it didn't satisfied me. The so-called climax wasn't very climatic either.
Overall, I was very disappointed. I expected a better sequeal from Beth Revis. The blurb seemed very interesting, but in reality, I don't think this book was really worth reading. Sorry Beth, but this is just how I felt.

Synopsis from Goodreads

Godspeed was once fueled by lies. Now it is ruled by chaos. It’s been three months. In that time, Amy has learned to hide who she is. Elder is trying to be the leader he’s always wanted to be. But as the ship gets more and more out of control, only one thing is certain: They have to get off the ship.

  1. I read ATU and I wasn't thrilled. Hopefully this one will be better when I get to it.
